Announcing "Just Get 'em Fed" ebook

I am excited to announce my first ebook “Just Get ‘em Fed“!

Growing into the role of Mom to 9 kids, learning to cook for the masses has been a challenge.  As a domestically-challenged wife, I’ve researched and experimented with many ways of eating.  Finally, after almost 20 years, I have found what works for us.

Now I can share what I’ve learned with you!

How much does this cost, you might ask?  Nothing.

Do you have to give your email, phone number and blood type?  Nope.

All you have to do is download my ebook and enjoy!  You can double-click the big, blue box in the right hand column or go here. Either way works!

I would love your feedback!  I’m already thinking about Part 2….

Very nice collection of recipes -I needed a new book to inspire me! Thanks!

  4. Kristen says:

How ironic! I was just flipping through magazine articles that I’ve pulled out to save. I JUST read the little clip in the ALL YOU magazine. How crazy is that!?! Now I’m even more in awe of your thriftyness.

  5. Wendy says:

Thank you so much for sharing this!

  6. Vicky says:

Thank you so much for sharing!

  7. Whitney says:

fabulous, thank you! I’m always on the lookout for nourishing recipes.

  8. Mel says:

I skimmed through the ebook (I’ll look through it more carefully soon) but I just wanted to thank you for all of the healthy realistic ideas for feeding families.

    • Kelly says:

      Mel,

You’re very welcome, I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for using the word ‘realistic’, it’s my hope and prayer that everything I write about is doable.

      Take care,

      Kelly

  9. Joan says:

Found your blog through a link to your cookbook! I’m also a mom to 9, and homemaking is not my strong suit (or a major interest for me, but I’m trying!) I look forward to checking out the rest of your blog.

    • Kelly says:

      Joan,

I just looked at your blog, what a beautiful family you have!

Thanks for checking out the book and the Morristribe. It’s a journey, isn’t it?

      Kelly

  10. Robyn says:

Thank you for this, Kelly. It’s nice to read a down-to-earth book written by a fellow mom. I love the theme night suggestion and will be starting it this week!

  11. Shelley Spence says:

Love this book! Thanks so much! Your journey sounds similar to mine…began with frozen dinners in a bag as a newly wed and have progressed (after having children) to nourishing whole foods. Thanks so very much for sharing…and for making it free! I thoroughly enjoyed reading every word—and look forward to trying lots of new recipes, as well as finding balance and recognizing sometimes I need to “just get ‘em fed!”

  12. Chrissy says:

Hi just read through your ebook . Thank you :-) . The part where you state “This isn’t balance it’s obsession” really struck me. To many times people who try new things like couponing, eatting healthier, meal planning, and keeping house tend to get in a rut and I have to say that I beleive it’s because at first they get so obessed in having to do it perfectly . I’m a prime example of this ! It becomes more of a chore . So I like your philosophy of “Just Get em Fed”. We need to do the best with what we have and stop obessing about the little things :-)

    • Kelly says:

      Chrissy,

Wow, thank you for your words! Powerful, that’s for sure. I feel so much more free than I did in ‘those’ days, and just doing the best I can…it’s good enough. What else can any of us give?

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment!

      Kelly

  13. Tina says:

Kelly!! This is awesome! I just “devoured the first 3 chapters in 15 minutes!! I never thought of these amazing ideas…ask the butcher??? Wha?? Whoa AWESOME!! I’m excited to finish up this book & apply these strategies, I’ve been really happy with our food budget of 125 for a family of 6, but I really need input on healthy eating. That ALWAYS seems to run up the bill.
    Thanks Again =)

    • Kelly says:

      Hello Tina!

Thanks so much for your encouraging words! I’m glad you’re enjoying it, keep me posted about your thoughts and impressions, ok? I love the feedback.

      Kelly

  14. Michelle says:

Wow! This is amazing. I’m on page 10 or so and your outlook on feeding the family is just what I need and how I feel!

I’ve tried mega-couponing, and it’s just too “obsessive” for me. I’ve TRIED eating whole and organic foods and got worn out and frustrated over the cost.

Lately, I’ve been struggling with morning (all-day) sickness and honestly, what sounds the best to me is macaroni and cheese and spagetti-o’s! I know it will pass soon and I’ll be able to remain upright for more than an hour at a time. But even then, getting my family fed well sometimes seems really overwhelming. I want to do a good job and I do enjoy cooking.

I’m just so thankful to find a reasonable “book” on how to, well, “JUST GET ‘EM FED!” :) Thanks for offering it for free.

    ~Michelle

    • Kelly says:

      Hi Michelle,

Thank you so much for your kind words!

I’ll be praying that your morning/all day sickness passes (BTDT!!) so that you can feel good again. I hope the book helps you in your everyday life as a mom.

      Take care!

      Kelly

  15. Amber says:

Thanks so much for sharing! I was needing some new ideas and fresh inspiration!

  16. Annie says:

Thank you so much for this book! It has some great REAL recipes in it. I love your balanced approach. I enjoyed reading something that is definitely doable. Planning menus is one of my worst hated chores and I usually just freeze up when it comes time to look at the weeks meals. I think a theme approach would help me a lot. Thanks!

    • Kelly says:

      Hi Annie,

Thanks so much for your encouraging words! I personally need “doable”!! I also hate meal planning, that’s why thematic works for me. I hope you enjoy it and benefit from it!

      Take care,

      Kelly

  17. lil eskimo says:

great work! i know you’re proud and you should be!!!

  18. Wow! So proud of you!

  19. Vicky says:

Thanks! It is a very easy and enjoyable read. I identified with several aspects coupon crazies . Lately though I have been in a rut when it comes to cooking, nothing sounds good. I know I will be referring back and trying some of your recipes. Thanks again!

    • Kelly says:

      Hey Vicky!

Thanks for your comment and for checking out the book.

I can identify with that ‘rut’ feeling in the kitchen. Usually it has something to do with lack of time, which frustrates any little bit of creativity that I might have…it passes.

      Take care!

      Kelly

  20. Mari says:

WoW, what a blessing you are. thank you! newest follower here and not because of the ebook, well i found you because of it lol, but i like following the big families. we are a fam of 6, though each of my boys counts as 2-3 in one lol.

have a great fun festive week, merry christmas.

  21. Afton says:

Thank you for putting this out for free! I look forward to trying these recipes. :-)

  22. Millicent says:

Thank You!!!! I’ve bookmarked your blog!

  23. Tricia says:

    Thank You!

  24. I’m very excited to try this cookbook! I tried to use the cookbook Nourishing Traditions but I found it way too overwhelming. I love the idea of having a certain kind of meal each night! I wish you would have added some fish recipes, maybe it’s too hard to cook fish for that many people. God Bless you and Thanks!

    • Kelly says:

      Hi Melinda,
      Melinda,
Yes, I found NTraditions to be an excellent source of information, but overwhelming and way over my head in terms of practical application. I’ve got kids to feed and I’ve got to just get ‘em fed.

Fish? Well, only a couple of the fam (husband, one daughter and one son) will eat fish and only if it’s salmon…can’t afford that. OH, I do buy frozen breaded tilapia from Sam’s once in a while, but I don’t prepare it. It’s just as an emergency meal.

      Enjoy!

  25. Lyn says:

Thank you so much for the e-book. With health issues I am always looking for quick and healthy recipes as spending a lot of time in the kitchen is difficult to do and I must cook from scratch.

Thank you also for making this free – I’m sure you could have sold it, but you are not. It’s so nice to see a blogger giving freely to help others. I know God will bless your heart for it.

  26. Jackie says:

Thank you so much for this free ebook. I have printed it out and am looking forward to reading it. I have a family of 6 with another on the way, so I always like hearing how moms of many feed their families.

    • Kelly says:

      Jackie,

Thanks for commenting! Like you, I am always scoping to see how other moms do things. That’s how we learn and grow.

      Take care of yourself!

      Kelly

  27. Kim says:

Just loved scrolling and reading your e-book. I felt as if I had sat at your dinner table and let you talk with me as you fixed dinner for your family. Very helpful and encouraging. Thank you for sharing!

  28. Andi says:

I love it, thank you for your wisdom. I love your menu, I may try yours for awhile. I’ve lost inspiration with cooking, planning and shopping, this will get me on track.

    Awesome, thank you.

  29. Kimi says:

So far so good!! Loving it!! Above is correct about it being like sitting across the table from you just chatting!! Love it!! Thanks for doing this and sharing with us!! Your the best!!

  30. Cher says:

Any mom of nine deserves a huge joyous smile. Thanks for putting together a wonderful book and giving us a chance to learn from you! Merry Christmas!

  31. Kimi says:

Finished it up last night and I LOVE IT!! Going to see how I can work it for me. I got caught up in crazy meals and my family, like yours, truly does just love the basics. Thanks for the kick in the butt I needed!!! For once, I am excited about planning some meals!! Thank you Thank you!!

  32. Kimi says:

Your so welcome!! I have gained so much from you!! Please keep writing!!

  33. Lily says:

Thank you for the great book. You have came a long way. This will be a great help to me because I am a beginner cook and also struggling what to feed my family

    • Kelly says:

      Lily,

Thank you so much for your comment! Yep, I was pretty pathetic. I hope that “Just Get ‘em Fed” helps you to get started!

      Warmly,

      Kelly

  34. I love the book and have read through most of it! I just wanted to tell you how I make chicken (Turkey) pot pie. Sometimes I purchase crescent rolls on sale and top it with that… but most of the time I make up an easy biscuit mix with more milk than needed and just drop 2″ balls of dough on top… kinda like dumplings. They grow together and make a nice top. And turkey on sale during thanksgiving is 49 cents a pound… I purchased 4! Thank you for the book!

  35. Susan says:

    Kelly,
I linked you over at http://www.thecoupontutor.blogspot.com
I love your e- book. I like how you put your money saving tips into words.

  36. Ricky Potts says:

I am so excited that the book is now out! This came together quick, too. Great job; can’t wait to see all your successes from it. Do you have any idea how many people have downloaded it yet?

    • Kelly says:

      Ricky,

I emailed you but I’ll respond here too.

Thanks so much! That means a great deal coming from a successful blogger like you. I’m listening to every bit of advice you give, you haven’t been wrong yet.

      Kelly

  37. Michelle Morse says:

Thank you so much for the wonderful download! I always love trying new recipes and these look amazing. I have the Mexican Potato Casserole in the oven right now! I appreicate you taking the time to put this together. I found your blog from Money Saving Mom and I will be checking in often.

    • Kelly says:

      Hey Michelle,

Thanks for commenting and you are sooooo very welcome for the book. I can’t wait to hear if you like the Mexican Potato casserole, let me know, ok?

      Great to hear from you!

      Kelly

  38. shirley says:

Hello…I am a Morris too….Tribe of only 7 though. Your recipes look great….really good helpful hints. Keep up the good work.

    • Kelly says:

      Hi Shirley!

There’s a bunch of us Morris’, aren’t there?

Thanks for stopping by and for giving the ebook a try! Let me know what you like!

  39. Suzanne says:

I have tears in my eyes as I read through this because this is exactly what I need. I feel so clueless but now I feel like I have a “big sister” in you to help me figure out how to do all of this! I’ve been all along your stages from having no clue how to manage a household (“what? it’s not the same as my corporate job where I was used to everything running exactly as planned?!?!”) to going crazy with Tightwad Gazette and couponing where it controlled me life to aiming for healthier more wholesome nutritious foods but not having a clue to accomplish all of this.

Thank you for your practical tips and guidelines! You are too good to us!

Blessings to you and your family!
    Suzanne

    • Kelly says:

      Suzanne,

Wow, I have tears in my eyes reading your comment! It’s so hard coming home from the work world to a homemaking career when you have no idea what you’re doing. I felt like such a loser for a long time. If it weren’t for mentors in my life, I don’t know what I would have done. I still always felt as though I was lacking something, that ‘instinct’ that all other women seemed to have.

I’m ok with it now, I’ve come a long way in terms of just accepting myself for who I am and doing the best I can, without comparing.

May God bless you as you serve your family, you’re doing just fine!

Grace and a big, accepting hug,

      Kelly

  40. Nancy says:

I saw you had casserole night. With 7 kids in the home to feed I think most every night seems to be casserole night! I don’t like to cook much and God had to stretch me by making me a mother to 8 kiddos. I can’t wait to read this whole book and put some new ideas into practice. :) Thank you!

    • Kelly says:

      Hello Nancy,

LOL! If I had it my way, I would divide all meals into two categories…casseroles and soups. Last I checked, I don’t live alone. :)

God gives us time to grow into these big shoes, don’t put too much stress on yourself. Take one recipe a week…a month if you need to and just ease into cooking. It took me years and years to get comfortable with it.

      Take care,

      Kelly

  41. Joan says:

Kelly- I made your Taco Chicken in the crock pot last night for my gang. It was a hit with everyone (a very rare feat!) We tried it as burrito filling and as taco salad. I preferred the taco salad just because it was so juicy that our burritos were falling apart. Today, I turned the leftovers into tortilla soup just by adding chicken broth, a little left over chili I had in the fridge, a bit of salsa, a can of black beans, and some corn. It was delicious.

    • Kelly says:

      Hello Joan,

Yea! Glad you liked it! It’s one of my favorites. Yes, it is a bit liquidy, sometimes I just drain it out, but I like the tortilla soup idea. Multiple use recipes are great, aren’t they?

      Woot!

  42. Lindsey says:

Hi! I was referred over here from $5 Dollar Dinners and I have to say, wow! I downloaded your book and saved a copy. My husband will LOVE your recipes I do believe. He tends to like simple flavors more than the elaborate flavors I gravitate towards. Thank you for an amazingly helpful book, and thank you for making available free of charge, that’s a huge help :-)

    • Kelly says:

      Hey Lindsey!

Great to hear from you and I’m so glad that you’re enjoying the book. Tell all your friends about it, I hope to get it to as many moms as might benefit from it.

      Take care!

  43. Linda says:

Thank you so much for making this available. You cook so much like I do and I’d been wanting to get my method and recipes down, now you’ve done the work and I just get to benefit from it. You’ve got some new to us recipes as well that I’m eager to try. Thanks so much for sharing!

  44. Kristin says:

Thanks so much! I can’t wait to read it!

  45. Marie says:

Oh my! I am sooo excited, cannot believe it is free. Thank you!!!!!! :)

  46. Helen says:

I too cook for a large group. We have 10 children ,8 of whom are still at home. Glad your recipes feed big crowds but was more interested in how you handled everything before the cooking. Going to the store in this house can be an all day job.

    • Kelly says:

      Helen,

You’re so right! I’ve seen so little written about how to get to the store and back in one piece, that’s why I wrote about it. Enjoy!
