"Surviving Off 'Off Grid': Decolonizing the Industrial Mind" Giveaway

I’ve waited a long time to read a book like this.

So long, in fact, that I feel like I’ve written parts of it in my brain many times.  ”Surviving Off ‘Off-Grid’: Decolonizing the Industrial Mind” by Michael Bunker is the kind of book that questions the status quo and challenges the dependency of the average American.

I’m going to be sharing my thoughts about different parts of this book, to give you a bit of a preview, but I really want to get this book into your hands! Time for a giveaway!!

  3. Danny Mercer says:

I hope this doesn’t sound cynical, as I am just curious. I enjoy listening to you and love your recommendations, but I don’t want to enter a contest for a book if it might help me less than it might help someone who isn’t already “in”. LOL Is this book as good for someone who is already on their way to being off the grid as it would be to someone who is just starting out? It sounds like a great book! But I sincerely don’t want to be greedy.

    • Kelly says:

      Danny,

This book is especially for those who are “in”! You’ll stop in your tracks and reassess what you’re doing and why. NOT a how to book, we’ve got enough of those. It really rocks your thinking, I’ve got a lot out of it and I’ve been doing this stuff for 15+ years.

Living “Off Grid” has been my goal since I first heard the terminology. Every year I learn more and get closer. My cooking and gardening skills are very good. My medical/first aid skills are decent. I make my own soap, cleaning supplies, and baskets. I can knit and sew. Currently I live in a big city, but I’m incorporating all the above skills into my daily life. Step by step, little by little. And I’m loving it. I just learned about you and signed up on Facebook!

I think it sounds interesting! I would LOVE to read this! We’ve just moved from the city to a little farm in the middle of nowhere and are learning to embrace this new life. I am with you and NOT living in fear. We move to be free, not afraid.
I had never thought of the parallels between the nations, but it makes sense.

  29. kimberly says:

    I follow you on FB.

  30. kimberly says:

    And…I shared on FB.

  31. kimberly says:

And I’m brand new to milking goats. That should count for extra entries, right? ;)

  32. Laurie says:

I share many ideas with the Stone Soup Group on Tuesdays. Many are not on the computer links, so I read your stories/posts to them while we eat and chat about gardens, storing, and how our country has gone from common sense to greed laced with pride of the Dollar. As silly as it sounds I am the “baby” of the group, being one of the younger ones attending. They keep asking me what has happened to the Younger Adults who have no idea what is happening as they are in their own little world. I would share this book with the whole group.

  33. Carola says:

I am getting ready to launch my own blog and would love to read this! Thanks for your inspiration…wish me luck!!!

  34. Megan says:

I would love to win this book! Love the idea of living off grid and hope to be able to one day.
