That’s really cool. I’ve never tried Tunisian crochet yet, but I’m sure I’ve got one of those special crochet hooks somewhere, purchased at a yard sale!!! I’d like to see what your friend’s finished piece looks like, or a bigger sample swatch!!! So fun
Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather
Heather, wasn’t that cool? I’ve never seen or heard of it before, but my friend Sara is amazing. She knows more about fabric arts than I’ll ever know!
I have made an afghan in tunisian stitch and I am working on a pillow cover. I learned to do the stitch with a double-ended crochet hook(it has the hook on both ends) and you work back and forth. Your friends way looked much easier than the way I have been doing it. I will have to try her way. One great thing about tunisian is the finished piece provides a perfect fabric for doing embroidery designs on. That is what I did with mine. I embroidered (with yarn) a lion on the afghan and the pillow cover has flowers. I can send you a pic if you would like.
That is really cool. I have to try it.
Thanks, Kelly! What a fun afternoon.
Your son cracks me up “Step your game up, haters.” ahahahahah! We are in trouble, now that we’ve met.
Kelly, have you every heard of or tried locker hooking? It’s another fabric art using a crochet hook on one end and the eye of a needle on the other end. You pull fabric through squares of canvas like latch hook canvas. It’s really not hard and it uses up lots of fabric. I’m working on a rug right now and almost finished. Would take a pic but I have not camera, and the pics on the internet are so much better anyway.
What a fun blog!
And that Sara chick is pretty much the bees knees. So I am told, lol.
Yes she is! Thanks for commenting, Summer!
Looks like fun, even the kids were having fun….maybe time for a class?
Kathie, YES!!
