This is one of the most exciting packages I receive all year….my seed order!!
Johnny’s Seeds is one of my favorite places to order my garden supplies from, even though I began seed saving last year and I didn’t need as many.
I cover everything from:
What pans are best for baking bread?
How to grind grain!
What kind of wheat berries do you need?
What if I don’t own a grain mill?
What does “develop the gluten” mean and how do you know when it’s ready?
How to avoid too-dense loaves by this one simple trick!
Variations of the same great recipe that you will love!
Making bread for your family is so satisfying! Watching it disappear as your children and husband smile and ask for more will encourage you to keep bread-making as part of your time in the kitchen.
“How to Make Great Bread” will be available next week, be sure to check it out!
Other “A Year On A Homestead” videos in the making are “Homestead Lighting without Electricity” as well as “Learning How to Weave“.
First quarter of the year is the best time to take classes and that’s exactly what I’ve been doing. The venues have varied but all have been fairly humble settings, which goes to prove that you don’t need to be in a school to learn! This church basement served as the sight of the root cellar class I took a couple of weeks ago, and it was FREE!
Not only should we find and support these efforts, but don’t be afraid to teach one yourself! That’s what it’s all about, teaching this next generation the skills that we may or may not have learned ourselves growing up.
What was YOUR week like? What challenges did you overcome? How were you blessed?
